2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations final
The 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations final was a football match that took place on 12 March 2017 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia to determine the 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations champion. The final was contested by Zambia and Senegal. Zambia won the match 2–0, winning title for the first time. Daka and Chilufya became the top goalscorers at the 2017 tournament together with South African Striker Luther Singh with 4 goals each. Besides being the second Southern African country after Angola (in 2001) to be crowned champions, Zambia’s feat makes them the fourth host to claim the ultimate after Morocco (1997), Ghana (1999) and Congo (2007)[1]. Zambia was the only team in the competition to win all matches and they capped their campaign in grand style with the title in hand.

Before the match, Zambia had only reached the U20 Africa Cup of nation's fourth place three times ( 1991 , 1999 , 2007 ). Senegal had reached one finals and came out as runners-up.
Background
This was the first appearance in the final for Zambia. Zambia won all the group stage matches. It started with a victory against Guinea followed by two wins against Mali and Egypt. In the semi-finals Zambia defeated South Africa[3].
For Senegal it was a tale of double disappointment having lost the 2015 final on home soil against Nigeria. Senegal started with a draw with Sudan and win over South Africa and Cameroon. In the semi-finals Senegal defeated Guinea by a Goal to nil.

Summary
The final was played on 12 March 2017 at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. Zambia defeated the Senegal 2–0. The win gave Zambia its first title of the U20 Africa cup title and they also became the first host to win the title in the history of the tournament.
Patson Daka opened the scoring 17 minutes into the game when he poked home from close range to beat Senegal keeper Lamine Sarr, making it 1-0 to Zambia. The Young Chipolopolo doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when Edward Chilufya scored following some confusion in the Young Lions of Teranga defence [4][5].
Senegal came pushing in the second half with second half substitute Ibrahima Ndiaye booked for throwing a suspicious substance into the Zambian goal some suspected witchcraft[6] which draw a protests from the host players.

Reaction in Zambia
Zambia is known to be a footballing nation but it’s not everyone’s favourite sport, but it definitely brings the people together, from the lowest moment being the fatal air crash in 1993[8][9], to the greatest moment – lifting the AFCON title in 2012.
Notable spectators
The host President Edgar Lungu[1]was among the notable spectators together with Kalusha Bwalya and former President of Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and the second-most capped player after Joseph Musonda for the Zambia National Team.
