His action received a lot of mixed reactions from his fans but however he was defended by fello musician [[Petersen Zagaze]] saying that ''"A primitive mind is no place to get advice...."'' he went on say ''“Everyday you watch movies with people in coffins, some even acting as Satanists, presidents, bishops, killers, sex workers, pilots, ghosts etc and you don’t complain, call [them] names or conclude, You see Ruff Kaida do a coffin stunt stage entrance you talk shallowmind talk. Why? Ruff Kid was awarded the Best International Act at the 2012 Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) Awards beating other African musicians such as Zahara (South Africa), Camp Mulla (Kenya), Cover Drive, D’banji (Nigeria) and Grace Galaxy (South Africa).
