History
In the 1980s, China began collaborating with Zambia to create a museum dedicated to independence. By the time it officially opened in October 1996, the museum’s focus shifted to a broader cultural history.

The upper floor houses contemporary art, including paintings, sculptures, and ceramics. The museum is divided into four main sections: ethnography, witchcraft (an insightful look at a culturally embedded practice in Zambia), history, and contemporary art.
Facilities
The museum includes a café and a modest gift shop. Guided tours are available to enhance visitors’ understanding of the exhibits.
