Gerald Phiri (born 6 October 1988) is a Zambian sprinter who runs 100m and 200m.

Early life and career

Born in Mufulira, Zambia in 1988, Phiri went to the United Kingdom at a young age. He attended Abbeydale Grange School in Sheffield and trained with City of Sheffield Athletics Club in South Yorkshire. He achieved the 3rd fastest under-17 100m time in the UK (10.51 seconds) at the age of 16. He represented the UK as a sprinter until he started competing for Zambia in 2009. He now lives and trains in the United States and competes internationally for Zambia.

London 2012

During the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Phiri qualified for the Semi-Finals of the 100 metres by running 10.16 seconds in his heat coming out 3rd. He then went on to the semi-finals and ran a 10.11 season's best but came 5th, outside the qualifying spots for the final.
