Matiya Ngalande is a Zambian veteran politician and freedom fighter. He was the first United National Independence Party member of parliament for Kasempa after Zambian gained its independence in 1964.
Early life
Matiya Ngalande was born on 2 June 1932 in Kabemba to Kabemba and Mandona Ngalande.
Career
Ngalande started his career as a teacher at Mutanda Mission School in North western Province. He later moved to serve in other administrative positions and became clerk at the Provincial Administration at the Ndola Municipal Council from 1955 to 1956 in the Northern Rhodesia Government.
