Patson Daka (born 9 October 1998) is a Zambian professional footballer who for Leicester City[1] and Zambia national team.[2] Before joining Leicester he played for Kafue Celtic from2016 to 2017. At Kafue Celtic, He then joined Power Dynamos on loan for a year in and the following year he was loaned to Liefering. Daka joined Red Bull Salzburg from 2017 as a youth winger. He helped the club win the UEFA Youth League, scoring 2 goals in 2 games. He made his debut for Salzburg first the following season against Viitorul Constanța on 24 August 2019.[3] On 30th June 2021, Leicester City announced the signing of Daka on a five-year contract.[4]
Career and career statistics
With the Zambia Under-20 team, Patson Daka participates in the Africa Cup of Nations Under-20 in 2017. In this competition organized in his native country, he starts and plays five matches. He stands out by scoring several goals: a goal in the first match against Guinea, then a brace against Egypt, and finally the last goal in the final won against Senegal. He also delivers an assist against Mali in the group stage. He was also rewarded with the title of the best player in the competition5. He then played a few months later in the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea. At the world juniors, he played five games. He scores a goal and delivers an assist against Iran in the group stage. He scored again in the round of 16 won against Germany. Zambia lost in the quarter-finals to Italy after extra time5. He received his first selection for Zambia A team on May 10, 2015, in a friendly against Malawi (2-0 victory). The same year, he participated in the COSAFA6 Cup. In January 2016, he participated in the African Nations Championship organized in Rwanda. During this competition, he played two matches, against Uganda (0-1 victory), and Mali (0-0). The same year, he participated again in the COSAFA6 Cup. He scored his first goal for the national team on September 5, 2017, against Algeria. This match won 0-1 is part of the 2018 World Qualifiers. Two months later, he scored his second goal against Cameroon, during the same qualifiers (2-2) 6.
