Kalumba was a qualified Chartered Accountant under the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) following his studies at Emile Wolf College in London. He was also a Fellow Member of the [[Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants]] (ZICA). He later obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA)  degree from Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, United Kingdom. He was a Certified Forensic Accountant, a specialized designation awarded by the American College of Forensic Examiners in the United States.
