Mundia started his career as a teacher in Namibia and Zimbabwe. He later joined politics and was among the freedom fighters who formed [[Zambia's first cabinet]] after attaining independence in 1964 under [[Kenneth Kaunda]]'s [[United Party for National Independence]] (UNIP) in which he served as Zambia's first [[Minister of Commerce & Industry]].
