Dr Chishimba Kambwili (born 3 June 1969) is a Zambian politician and member of the National Assembly of Zambia for Roan Constituency (Luanshya),[1] and held the office of Minister of Sports and Youth in the Cabinet of Zambia.

Early life and education

He was born on 3 June 1969 in Luanshya where he subsequently completed his education. He later studied Industrial Relations, Business Administration and Trade Union Studies.

Career

Kambwili is also National Youth Chairman for the Patriotic Front, which in September 2011 election became the ruling party in Zambia.

Kambwili was first appointed Minister of Foreign affairs however was then moved to Ministry of Labour, then Minister of Sports and Youth. Kambwili was also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services since 2015 and spokesperson of the PF government and party.

On 8 November 2016 President Edgar Lungu terminated the services of Kambwili as Minister of Information and Broadcasting and was immediately replaced with. Hon. Kampamba Mulenga, Member of Parliament for Kalulushi Constituency on the Copperbelt Province.[2] Kambwili became the first minister to be fired from the new cabinet after President Edgar Lungu was re-elected into power in the August 2016 elections. No reasons were given for the dismissal.[3]

Awards and honours

In 2016 Kambwili was conferred with an honorarily doctorate at the California University FCE’S awarding ceremony in Lusaka whose theme was, "Cerebrating our Heroes who have impacted lives and carry their vision to the next generation”.[4]

Personal life

Kambwili has 4 daughters and 1 son. He is married to Carol.[5]
