On 14 November 2016, the [[Anti-Corruption Commission]] (ACC) confirmed placing former minister Kambwili under investigations for the accumulation of vast wealth since he started serving in government. On 20 April 2017, Kambwili was involved in a serious road traffic accident in [[Luapula Province]]. The accident happened at [[Kapena Village]] in [[Mwense District]]. He was traveling with his elder brother for a funeral when their vehicle lost control and overturned several times.
