Chinsali is a town in Chinsali District of Zambia, and is the provincial headquarters of Muchinga Province. It lies 15 km west of the Great North Road and about 180 kilometres (112 miles) north-north-east of Mpika. It lies 28 kilometres (17 miles) south-east of the Chambeshi River but only 6 kilometres (4 miles) from the edge of the river's floodplain. The district is home to His royal Highness Chief Chibesakunda of the Bisa people.
