Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. For most countries, Labour Day is synonymous with, or linked with, International Workers' Day, which occurs on 1 May. Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula (1916 – 8 October 1983) was a Zambian nationalist leader who assisted in the struggle for the independence of Northern Rhodesia from British colonialism. He was founders of Zambia’s first native political party, the Northern Rhodesia African National Congress founded in 1948. The party was first led by Godwin Mbikusita Lewanika. Lewis Changufu (October 1927 - 27 April 2016) was a Zambian politician, freedom fighter and the chief architect and co-ordinator of the Cha Cha Cha Uprising at the height of political campaigns to rid the country of British colonisation.Changufu’s roots can be traced to Chief Mwamba’s area in Kasama where he was born in October 1927. Rozalla Miller (born 18 March 1964), better known as simply Rozalla, is a Zambian dance music performer. She is best known for her 1991 hit "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)", which was remixed and re-issued several times. Rozalla began performing at a young age in her native Zambia singing in clubs and at events; then at age 13, she was singing on a children's TV show. (Full article...)

Sioma Ngwezi National Park is a 5,000-square-kilometre park in the south west corner of Zambia. It is undeveloped and rarely visited, lacking roads and being off the usual tourist tracks, but this may change in the future. Like most national parks it is unfenced allowing free movement of the animals, and it is surrounded by buffer zones where hunting is regulated, called Game Management Areas (GMAs).(Full article...)

Chingola is a city in Zambia's Copperbelt Province, the country's copper-mining region. It is the home of Nchanga Copper Mine, a deep-shaft high-grade content copper mining operation, which subsequently led to the development of two open pit operations, Chingola Open Pit and then Nchanga Open Pit. Derby Makinka shown in the picture on the left (born 5 September 1965, in Harare, Zimbabwe, died 27 April 1993) was a Zambian footballer and member of the national team. He was among those killed in the crash of the team plane in Gabon in 1993. Makinka played club football for Profound Warriors in Zambia, where he was voted Zambian Footballer of the year in 1989 before moving to Pomir Dushanbe in the Soviet Top League near the end of 1989 after being spotted during their 4-0 win over(Full article...)

The Roman Catholic Church in Zambia is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. There are about three million Catholics in the country - about a quarter of the total population. There are ten dioceses, including two archdioceses.The first Catholics in the country were Jesuits who crossed the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls in 1879. Kabange Mupopo (born 21 September 1992) is a Zambian sprinter and football player who won Gold in African Games in September 2015. Keith Shem Michael Mlevhu (14 September 1950 - 5 March 1988) was a Zambian multi-instrumentalist musician, popularly known for his independence song, Ubuntungwa, which was part of his 1976 album Love and Freedom. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa (3 September 1948 – 19 August 2008) was the third Republican President of Zambia. He ruled the country from January 2002 until his death in August 2008. He is credited for having initiated a campaign to rid the country of corruption.
