An economist by profession, he was first elected to Parliament in 1973 as Member of Parliament for [[Kalulushi]] Constituency. In 1978, he was nominated by Dr. [[Kenneth Kaunda]] as Member of Parliament. In 2011, President [[Michael Sata]] nominated him as Member of Parliament.<ref name=lv/>
