Michael Kumwenda (died 1996) was a Zambian musician. He was lead singer and founder of the Burning Youth band. The band was known for such songs as "Chiuta" and "Sebenzesani Ma Condom".
Death
Kumwenda died in 1996 after an illness. Gone at a youthful age, his death was a blow to the entire music fraternity. However, his passing did not entirely deter the Burning Youth band from soldiering on with their musical mission. After a long time of silence and struggle to find ground, the band reemerged in September 1998 with a new leader Jack Tembo.
